Although I'm thankful for all four seasons on the East Coast, I thrive in the warmer months. Those beautiful sunny days with fresh flowers and greenery are truly magical.

Before we know it, spring will begin. On Thursday, March 2025, we can rejoice with our woodland friends and singing birds that brighter days have arrived.

Since we only have about two more months of winter on the East Coast, let's see what the prediction is going forward.

What's The Farmers' Almanac Winter Weather Prediction For 2025?

I've always been fascinated by Farmers' Almanac with their knowledge about weather, remedies, gardening and more. Their advice has been given out for generations and continues to influence people today.

The Farmers' Almanac has shared their winter weather forecast for 2025.

I remember seeing those woolly caterpillars in the summer months as we were heading into fall. I was under the impression that the more brown on these caterpillars, the less mild the winter. However, December had chilly temperatures and a few snowstorms already.

Here's what the Farmer's Almanac has stated,

"Winter weather forecast calls for a season of rapid-fire storms that will bring both rain and snow, with little downtime in between."

"Brace yourself for a Wet Winter Whirlwind! "

Why Will We See A Wet Winter On The East Coast?

We officially welcomed Winter Solstice on December 21, 2024. This is known to bring the shortest day followed by the longest night.

The Farmers' Almanac explained the reason for a wet winter ahead.

"This winter, La Niña, which refers to the periodic cooling of ocean surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific, is expected to develop and hang on through the season."

The Farmers' Almanac shared winter weather predictions for the Northeast including,

"Will be stormy with above-normal amounts of winter precipitation and near-to above-normal temperatures."

They mentioned that we can expect "wet and cold for most locations" for this winter.

The Farmers' Almanac shared that during the last week of January into the start of February, there may be a change in temperature with "frigid Arctic air" which we will experience nationwide.

As we take this time to rest, recharge and restore, we can also look ahead to brighter and warmer days that will be here soon.

5 Ways To Know It's Spring In The Hudson Valley

I always know that spring has started when I first hear the sound of spring peepers. This may also consist of flowers start to blossom, the greenery throughout mother nature and return of several wildlife critters.

Others may also agree and share their opinions too.

As we are different people, we notice things differently as well. While someone takes an interest in a woodpecker in the tree on a soothing morning, someone else may notice a lawnmower humming noise during their breakfast.

On WRRV, a Facebook post asked local residents to share their opinion.

The question stated:

"Tell me it’s spring in the Hudson Valley without telling me it’s spring in the Hudson Valley, GO!"

Hudson Valley residents were not shy when it came to answering this question. Let's take a look at ways we can notice that it's spring in the Hudson Valley from all age groups and different locations.
