Are you ready for the fall foliage to begin?

Foliage Change Begins in Upstate, New York

I know I'm not alone when I say that fall is my favorite season of the year. The crisp cool air, apple and pumpkin picking, and of course, the beautiful fall foliage.

Those pops of bright yellow, red, orange, and yellow are a sight to be seen. And New York is one of the best places to catch a glimpse. While the first day of fall isn't officially until Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, change has already begun in Upstate, New York.

Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, New York shared this shot from Tuesday, September 10th, 2024:

You can start to see the bright reds, yellows, browns, and oranges make their presence known. As a fall fan, this makes my heart happy. However, it may take other parts of the state a little longer to get to their fall foliage peak.

When Will New York Towns Experience Gorgeous Fall Foliage?

I have to be honest, I'm a little jealous that Whiteface Mountain is getting their fall foliage so soon.

What about the rest of us across New York State? NewYorkUpstate.com did a little research and found an extremely helpful map that estimates when each part of New York will experience a color change.

It looks like by September 21st, 2024, we'll begin to see a low color change across the region. This makes sense considering the first day of autumn is September 22nd.

Things will heat up, foliage-wise, by the first week in October. Check out ExploreFall.com to check out the interactive fall foliage map!
