James Earl Jones Passes Away at the Age of 93

Earlier this week we learned that the iconic actor James Earl Jones passed away at the age of 93.

The actor who was born in Arkabutla, Mississippi in 1931 moved to the Hudson Valley back in 1970. Jones put his roots down in Pawling, New York at was often seen out and about in town.

On September 9, 2024, the actor passed away at his home in Dutchess County according to his agent. A cause of death has yet to be reported.

Jones starred in an array of movies and plays earning him one of the most sought-after titles: an EGOT winner.

While he never won a "competitive Oscar" Jone received the Honorary Academy Award back in 2011, according to Wikipedia. The actor also won 2 Primetime Emmy Awards, a Grammy, and 3 Tony Awards.

The actor voiced some of the most iconic characters of all time like Darth Vader in Star Wars and Mufasa from Disney's The Lion King. He also starred in movies like The Sandlot, Coming to America, Patriot Games, and The Hunt for Red October.

Interview Resurfaces of James Earl Jones at Pawling, NY Diner

After news spread of James Earl Jones' passing, news outlets began to share past interviews with the A-listers.

However, one resurfaced interview holds a special place in the heart of Today Show anchor, Al Roker.

Roker, who also has ties to Dutchess County, interviewed Jones several years ago at McKinney & Doyle Corner Bakery & Fine Foods Cafe in Pawling, New York. The 2 sat down and discussed Jones' major roles and his iconic career.

At one point Roker told Jones how meaningful seeing him on the big screen was. Take a look:
