A scary crash in Upstate New York over the weekend left behind a huge mess after a car slammed into a home in Otsego County, NY.

According to New York State Police, troopers out of Oneonta, NY, were called to respond to a house in the town of Oneonta around 4:59 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th, after receiving reports of a vehicle that had crashed directly into a house.

Car Crashes Into Home in Oneonta, NY

When authorities arrived, their investigation found that a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze had been traveling westbound on State Highway 23 at an unsafe speed when the driver lost control. The vehicle went off the roadway and ended up crashing straight into the home.

Police say the driver, an 18-year-old male from Schenevus, NY, was injured in the crash and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police didn't identify the driver but did confirm that impairment was not a factor.

There were two people inside the home at the time of the crash, and thankfully, neither was hurt in the crash.

Close Call for Oneonta Residents

As you can see in the pictures above, this could have turned out much worse. It’s honestly incredible that no one inside the home was injured. It's unclear how much damage was done to the residence, but a crash like this serves as another reminder of how dangerous speeding can be, even on roads we travel every day.

As of now, the investigation remains ongoing.
