It's the start of a new month and that brings a lot of hope and promise, but the start of August can be difficult for others.

There are a lot of feelings about today throughout the Hudson Valley. I'm sure you can tell by now that I am a total and complete summer girl. I look forward to it all year and I take it pretty hard when it ends. A lot of people feel this way too, but I just happen to much more vocal about it.

Why can August be a tough month for people in the Hudson Valley?

When August comes around a lot of people (including myself) start to panic because it's so hard to process how fast summer is going by and how we know what's sadly ahead of us. A lot of people who work in the school system start to really feel the anxiety of going back to work once August comes around and it can almost get a bit depressing.

Some people might think this is dramatic and don't take this seriously, but it's very hard if you're someone who thrives on the sunshine, the long days, extra daylight and everything that makes up summer.

What are the benefits of sunshine?

I will stand firm on this hill and defend it, there are SO many benefits of the sunshine and even more that people don't realize.

According to officials, the sunshine and the Vitamin D you get from it helps:

  • it supports healthy bones
  • manages calcium levels
  • helps your immune system
  • can lower blood pressure levels

There's a lot of goof things the sun does for everyone.
