Day or night, we can hear sounds from wildlife here in the Hudson Valley. During the day, we can hear the happy songs from birds and convos between squirrels. At night, we may hear the spring peepers which I love or crickets in our yard.

Do You Know The Official State Bird Of New York State?


The Old Farmers Almanac shared some exciting news on social media! They included that every state has its own official bird. In Pennsylvania, the state bird is the Ruffed Grouse while in New Jersey, they honor the American Goldfinch.

Shoutout to the Eastern Bluebird since it is the official state bird of New York State!

Free App: Hudson Valley Residents Can Now Identify Birds In Their Backyard


You’ll want to check this app out! It’s called The Cornell Lab, Merlin and it's a bird ID app. They have over 8,500 plus bird species in its library.

When I downloaded the app and hit record, I heard a bunch of different birds! The American Robin to Black Capped Chickadees and even Blue Jay’s popped up on the list.

It's easy, you can download the app, click sound ID and hit the record button!
